First dates can be wonderful and exciting and on the rare occasion, awkward. But there's something exhilarating about meeting a new person that you could potentially start dating. Starting off on the right foot is very important, and often, just a plain old boring dinner or a movie doesn't do justice to an evening that could really be so much more fun. So bid the idea of a regular first date goodbye, and turn instead towards some of these offbeat first date ideas.
1. Hit up a local event
Whether it's a day long food festival, a music gig, an art fair or even a play, check all the local event apps and websites to see what's going on around you. Going to an event together can prove a lot more fun and also allow you to get a peek into some of their interests.
2. A picnic in the park
Sounds kind of retro, does it? Well that's the idea. We understand it's not everyone's cup of tea to sit in the park when you have the option of going into an air conditioned restaurant, but just try it. There's something about the fresh air, birds chirping and greenery all around that sets the mood for a fine date. Don't make the mistake of planning it in the midst of the day, though. You don't want to end up burnt. Plan either a breakfast date or a sundowner. You won't be sorry.
3. How about a board game brunch
Ah, good old board games. We're talking monopoly, snakes and ladders; the really good old ones you enjoyed playing when you were younger. Plan a meal at home or in a relaxed cafe that'll allow you to carry your own board games or have their own selection. This way, if you're having too much fun and really enjoying each other's company, your date can continue even if your conversation begins to dwindle.
