Mango season is in full swing but in a few weeks, that won't be the case as the monsoon will begin and the fruit will disappear. Since the weather is still sweltering, make the most of the king of fruit by using it in a couple of tropical cocktails. They are delicious, refreshing and make the perfect addition to lunch on a sunny afternoon.
1. Mango Margarita
Give the lip-smacking cocktail a yummy mango twist - it's like nothing you've ever tasted before.
Ingredients:
4 cups, frozen mango chunks
Half cup, tequila
Quarter cup, triple sec
Quarter cup, lime juice
Half cup, cold water
Quarter cup, sugar
Method:
Add all of the ingredients into the blender and pulse till it is a smooth liquid. Rub lime along the rim of the glass and dust with powdered sugar. Then pour in the mixture and serve chilled.
2. Mango Colada
Does it get any more tropical themed than a pina colada? Not really. That's why mango makes an ideal (and delicious) addition to it.
Ingredients:
Half cup, pineapple juice
1 cup, frozen mango chunks
2 tablespoons lime juice
Quarter cup coconut milk
Quarter cup white rum
1 cup crushed ice
Mint leaves
Method:
Add all the ingredients into a blender and keep pulsing until they have liquefied and formed a thick, smooth liquid. Pour in glasses and garnish with a sprig of mint.
3. Mango Sangria
Bubbly, crisp and refreshing is the right way to sum up this cocktail, which mango is definitely the hero of.
Ingredients:
1 bottle, white wine
Quarter cup, mango juice
Quarter cup, vodka
1 cup, frozen mango chunks
2 cups, soda
3 tablespoons sugar
1 cup, strawberries
Method:
In a large punch bowl, mix the mango juice, vodka, soda and sugar well. Add the mango chunks and strawberries then refrigerate. When serving, add 1:1 of wine and the drink mix.
