No one likes blemishes on their skin. But what's even more frustrating than getting those blemishes, is not being able to figure out just where they're coming from

3 Reasons Your Skin Is Breaking Out And What To Do About It
There are many small things that you do on a daily basis that could be causing your skin to break out

We've all dealt with the nastiness of those big, red bumps as well as the annoyance caused by those small, yellow, pus filled spots. No matter what kind of bumps and spots you're dealing with on your skin, here's one thing for sure - they absolutely don't make you even remotely happy. But what's even more frustrating than getting those blemishes, is not being able to figure out just where they're coming from and why. Is it hormones? Stress? An allergic reaction? Or simply a build-up of bacteria on your skin? Whatever the reason, there are many small things that you do on a daily basis that could be setting them off.

Here's what could be causing your skin to breakout and what to do about it.

1. You never clean your makeup brushes

Cleaning your makeup brushes is probably way down on your list of things to do. But in order to achieve that clear complexion, you're going to have to bump it up a few places. By not cleaning your makeup brushes at least once every fortnight, you're allowing bacteria to build on them. This bacteria will then get transferred onto your face when you use those brushes to apply makeup, therefore fostering the growth of those unwanted pimples.

2. You're not getting enough sleep

Ever wondered why your skin looks particularly dull and tired some mornings and appears to have broken out into a sudden burst of acne overnight? It's because you haven't slept well or enough. Sleep has a direct effect on your health; and that includes the health of your skin. Not sleeping enough inflicts stress on the body. When in stress, your body raises the levels of cortisol, which is often called the 'stress hormone'. In return, cortisol, which also helps reduce inflammation among other things, can cause breakouts.

3. You don't change your bed linen

Seriously, when was the last time you changed your bed linen? Not changing your bed linen often enough can be causing your skin more stress than you realise. Bed sheets and pillow covers can harbour bacteria over a period of time and that bacteria will be more than happy to transfer over to your skin as you sleep. Make sure to change your bedding at least twice a week. If you can't get down to changing your entire bedding, definitely change your pillow covers.
