
We all hear great things about solo travelling - we hear about how it is so refreshing and enlightening for the self, how it gives you so much time to introspect. Everyone on social media goes on and on about how travelling alone is a huge part of self-love and giving yourself some much needed time off. But after travelling alone for a while, I can safely say that that is not all that travelling alone is about. Sure, the whole experience brings a lot of insight, peace, experience, and a developed worldview. But there are a few other things that being out exploring the world by ourselves should teach us.
There are a lot of things that need to come to your skill set with solo travelling, not just pretty Instagram pictures. These are things that you need to learn when you are out there all by yourself and you are sole responsibility with no one looking over you. Here are a few things that you need to keep in mind.

Your health needs to be of prime importance
When you are travelling alone, you have to make sure that you take care of your health because there will be no one to take care of you if you fall sick. Be smart enough to check the weather forecast and carry clothes accordingly, don't exert your body or tire yourself out, make sure you take your supplements and medicines so you are on the top of your game.

You need to stay safe
It is easy to lose sight of this aspect when you are out there in a new city having fun. You meet a few strangers and the night turns fun. But a little too much fun (read alcohol) and you will be too inebriated to take care of yourself in a foreign land amidst strangers. So be careful that you don't put yourself in tricky spots by making responsible choices constantly.

You must manage your time and money efficiently
Adulting comes with the baggage of minding your finances and budget. When you are travelling alone, that becomes even more important because you want to have as much fun, see as many places, feel refreshed but also excited. So sometimes we tend to go overboard when try and fit too much into the limited time that we have. Result? We come back even more tired than we went. And broke. Setting a budget, deciding on the vacation's motive, and setting an itinerary is always a good call.
