One of the most beautiful and picturesque treks in the Himalayas, the Kheerganga trek is on many people’s to-do list. With an easy to moderate difficulty level, the Kheerganga trek is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. While the biggest attraction of the trek is the hot water spring that awaits at the end of the trek, the journey to the top is also one to remember. With greenery all around, the vast sky above, and a winding path that will have you cross rivers, villages, and forests, Kheerganga trek is one that will stay on your mind long after you return. But before you go, here are three things to remember.

- Once you get to Kasol via Bhuntar, you need to head to Barshaini village where the Kheerganga trek begins. From Kasol, you can take a bus or a cab to Barshaini. There are frequent buses to Barshaini that go via Manikaran. You can also choose to share cabs with other travellers to save money. From Barshaini, you can also go to Tosh and stay there for a night. Tosh is half hour away from Barshaini if you walk. You can start your trek to Kheerganga the next morning.

- Make sure you start trekking early in the morning, so you can reach the destination before the evening falls. 7 am is a good time to start, it gives you the opportunity to witness sunset at Kheerganga. The trek is around 14-15 km long and should take you around five to six hours to cover. Make sure you take decent number of breaks. There are some cafes with beautiful view of the river to chill at and also a waterfall on the way.

- Kheerganga has a lot of places to stay, from wooden rooms to small tents. The tariff for the night begins from Rs 200 and can go up to Rs 500. You can also carry your own tents if you are planning a long stay. After picking a place to stay, make sure you head to the hot water spring before it gets dark. You can chill at the cafes afterwards. There are many good cafes to choose from and eat at.
