Summer calls for sweet and simple drinks - ones which won't leave us high and dry, or with a heavy hangover the next day. While rum and vodka isn't advisable to be had in the summer, beer and wine make for perfect summer poisons. Many people mix it up when it comes to wine, brewing mimosas and sangria, but not a lot of people try and whip up beer cocktails. People prefer to have their beers the way they like to have their reality checks - straight up.
But truth be told, beer cocktails are easy to make and the finished product is pretty delish. Not to mention that with the variety of beer available in the market nowadays, the window for making beer cocktails is wide open.
Here are four easy recipes you can try to mix up next time you are pregaming.
Coffee Stout
Stout beer is a dark beer that can be jazzed up with some strong coffee. All you have to do is mix espresso, some Kahlua, and stout beer (in the ratio of 25:25:50). Serve cold in slim pilsner glasses.
Beer-gria
This is where wheat beer comes into play - the citrus, summery flavors go well with slices of lime, orange, and other fruits of your choice. Keep overnight in the refrigerator and voila! Mint leaves also add a good touch.
IPA Punch
Indian Pale Ale with a twist? Well, a little bit of cointreau (or campari), mixed with some orange juice and a pint of IPA does the trick well.
Lager Lemonade
Your average lager beer made fresher with some lime juice, tequila and a teeny bit of ice tea (choose flavour wisely). Garnish with a slice of lemon and you are good to go.
