With their brushes and powders, makeup artists can seem like wizards in their own right. Just a simple flick of the wrist can transform a look, easy-peasy!
Even wizards have their limits though. With the amount of new trends and strange requests they receive every day, even makeup artists have a limit they just don't cross. We spoke to 4 top makeup artists to find out exactly what their makeup no-no's are.
1. Clint Fernandes
"Although highlighter is having its moment in the sun, I find it unnecessary to apply it so liberally under the brow area. Moisturised skin has a natural gleam to it so unless you're replicating Cindy Lauper's look, go light on highlighting the under brow or else it will just look garish."
2. Mansi Mehta Kothari
"A complete no-no for me is a black smokey eye with red lipstick. When applying makeup, I like to highlight one feature of the face at a time. Both, smokey eyes and red lips are attention-grabbing and together, they can be over the top."
3. Reema Patil
"I'd say glossy eyes. While they look great in fashion editorials, it just isn't practical. Not only do glossy lids feel super sticky, they settle into the crease and need to be constantly blended with your fingers to settle. It's a great trend but not a good idea for a night out."
4. Mausam Gandhi
"Glitter makeup is so popular these days, whether it's on the eyes, lips or cheekbones. For me, a no-no is using shimmer all over your face because a good look needs balance. So if you are going for a glitter eye or strobed cheeks, make your other elements matte ones."
