Her beach day seemed like a unique one as she was seen setting some fitness goals by the beach with backward walking. From burning calories to improving strength, backward walking has multiple benefits that you may not be aware of. Like Masaba, if you wish to level up your fitness diaries in the new year, this simple exercise is one way to mark the beginning.
1. Strengthening Muscles
While we know that walking has multiple benefits, backward walking too can do good to your health. The backward walking pattern is heel to toe which helps to work on different muscles and strengthen them. It is meant to strengthen the legs and overall lower-body muscles.
2. Improves Balance
Backward walking is also a great way to improve gait and balance. It helps to work on the walking speed and the pattern of walking is such that it also helps to improve posture. After a few days of walking backwards, one can see a difference in their sitting and standing posture.
3. Help With Joint Pain
Walking backward tends to put a lot less pressure on the knee, which eventually helps to improve pain and strengthen knee muscles. The motion engages the quadriceps which helps to improve flexibility as well.
4. Brain Workout
This form of walking also acts as a workout for the brain as it helps to improve brain and body co-ordination. It comparatively requires more mental effort and concentration, thereby feels like a brain exercise too.
