Make lists

That's right; you may think that you remember everything and you will be fine without noting things down but most of the times that doesn't work out. Make a list of everything you need - paper towels, plates, glasses, fairy lights, toilet paper, ice etc.

Be choosy with the guests

When the time to make the invite list comes, we all feel like inviting all of our acquaintances in addition to our friends. Don't. A party is as successful as the people in it, and not every social circle gets along with the other. If there is someone you know will be a party-pooper or end up throwing up all over - well, off the list they go.

Make sure you have space for people who might stay back

The spare bed, that mattress that you don't use, the extra room - make sure these are ready to be used in case someone gets too sloshed and can't head back home, or is coming from too far.

Be smart with the food and the alcohol

If you have thrown a party before, chances are you know about the fact that once people get buzzed on the alcohol, they don't eat as much. So have more snacks, fingers foods than the main course. But make sure you have enough food - because people do get hungry as the night progresses.

Have fun yourself

Most of the times, we are so busy hosting that we forget to have fun ourselves. That sort of cancels out the point of a party. So know where you need to stop being a host and start having fun.
