5 Home Remedies To Remove A Tan From Your Feet When They've Been Tanned At The Beach

We all love summer, but the summer heat? Not so much. Be it the scorching sun or the increased pollution levels, it takes a toll on the health of our skin. As a result of the increased skin exposure, we experience tanning. As a natural reaction to the harmful sun rays, cells called melanocytes get triggered and react by boosting the production of melanin, a brown pigment. Tanning not only affects the skin colour, but also puts it at risk of premature pigmentation, and skin cancer. While skin tanning can be cured with multiple packs and scrub among other things, people tend to overlook the feet and end up using harsh methods like beaching, making them dry and dark. Below, we have listed down some home remedies to remove tan from your feet.

1. Potato And Lemon Juice 

While potato acts as a bleaching agent, lemon removes the blemishes and tan from the body. The combination will help you restore the natural skin colour.  Make a paste of potato and lemon juice, apply it to your feet, and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. Use it at least twice a week. 

2. Orange, Milk Cream And Sandalwood

Vitamin C present in oranges detoxifies and brightens the skin while sandalwood soothes the sunburn. Next, the milk cream helps in moisturising. Prepare a paste using orange, sandalwood and milk cream and apply it to the affected areas on your feet. Wash off with cold water before leaving it for 30 to 35 minutes. Use this paste twice a week.

3. Oats And Curd 

Oats are great exfoliating agents as they get rid of dead skin cells, while curd moisturises and restores skin health.  Mix oatmeal, lemon juice, and curd to prepare a paste and apply it to your feet. Scrub the paste gently for 10 to 15 minutes, and wash it off with cold water. Moisturise your skin and repeat it once a week. 

4. Tomatoes 

Rub tomatoes on the tanned feet to fade the tan and skin darkening. Tomatoes are considered a natural bleaching agent. You can also try tomato scrub, by mixing some sugar with tomato juice. Rub it on the skin and leave it for half an hour, before washing it with water. 

5. Turmeric, Corn Flour And Honey

For instant tan removal, turmeric can be your go-to pick and when paired with corn flour, it helps in de-tanning. In a bowl, take 1 tablespoon corn flour, 1 teaspoon turmeric and the same amount of honey to whip a paste. Apply it all over the feet and wash it off with cold water after 30 minutes.
