Holi is here and so is the time to soak in the festive fervour. From intimate to grand parties, the celebrations are in full swing. As we indulge in all the colours and merriment while playing Holi, let's not compromise on our skin. As we enjoy all the good food and music, let's also plan to get our skincare routine sorted post-Holi. The harsh sun exposure and colours might take a toll on the skin and to avoid all the hassle, it is best to take care of your skin post-playing. From oil cleansing to moisturising, we have got it all covered for you.
Here's Your Guide To Post-Holi Skincare
Keep Oil Handy
While applying oil before playing with colours is important, it is a necessity to you is post your Holiday merriment too. Rough and tough colours might take a while to get off your skin. Applying some coconut oil will make the process a tad bit easier. You can simply take some coconut oil and gently use it to rub those colours off your skin.
Avoid Skin Exfoliation
It is best to avoid skin exfoliation for a few hours as it will make the skin even rougher and make the pores open. It can even lead to skin irritation and redness. Try and avoid exfoliating the skin for 1-2 days as it will allow your skin to get back in a better texture.
Don't Head Straight To Shower
As you get back after playing Holi, don't head straight for a shower. That could just make the colour removal process irritating for you. Make sure to apply coconut oil all over your body to loosen the colours so they can simply be removed without any hassle.
Go For Gentle Cleansers
Avoid potent formulations as they can just add to the itching and irritation. Skip alcohol-based toners or strong cleansers, instead go for a cleanser that helps to balance the pH levels of the skin. Pick one according to your skin type and concern.
Moisturise Well
Right after bathing, make sure to moisturise your skin and body with a creamy textured moisturiser. It is best to apply it on moist or damp skin as it will help to retain the natural moisture of the skin. Opt for ingredients or formulations that suit your skin type. Try and avoid formulations like vitamin C, glycolic acid etc and instead opt for simpler ones.
