While many term the morning as the best time of the day, when you aren't a morning person, it barely ever feels like it. The first few hours of the day always seem to fly by in a messy, grumpy haze! But it doesn't always have to be like that. Even if you're the grouchiest person in the A.M. and morning isn't really your thing, here are 6 life hacks to make getting through the most important part of the day slightly easier.
1. Get Up
The moment you find yourself slightly conscious and eyes open, stand up. Those are the few deciding moments that leave you lazily snoozing and push you further away from starting your day. Standing up stops that before your mind can lure you back to sleep.
2. Chug It
Once you're up, drink plenty of water - around 500ml to a litre. Over the course of the night, your body gets dehydrated and sluggish. Drinking water will not only stop that but refresh your system too. So detox water or even just plain ol' water will do the trick.
3. Plan Ahead
No one likes the thought of ironing clothes and packing lunch when they're running late in the morning. Plan the basics the night before and lay your clothes out, iron them, pack lunch for the next day and ready your bag. Even if you're late (and grumpy!), you'll just need to slip it on and get out without thinking.
4. Eat Well
Don't ever skip breakfast. Your body has already starved for 8 hours through the night and skipping breakfast will only leave you hungry, cranky and starving till lunch. Prep breakfast the night before - or even a bowl of cereal will do. Just as long as you eat something.
5. Play Music
While applying your makeup or readying your bag, put on a playlist of peppy, cheery music. It's an easy trick to perk up your mood - before you know it, you'll be singing along too!
6. Work Out
Try and squeeze in a work out in the morning, even if it's 15 minutes of stretches or a run in the park. Exercise releases feel-good hormones which will set the tone of your day from the morning itself.
