While corsets date back to the Victorian ages as a tool to straighten the spine and give women a teensy-weensy waist, there’s no way the inventor, a Roxey Ann Caplin, would know that it would go on to become a celebrity favorite fashion statement. While the corset was intended to be worn as innerwear, it and its new-fangled variations like the corset belt have gone on to be worn as outerwear in many fashion police approved looks. Here’s a look at 6 of those times these celebrities wore the corset as outerwear.

1. Taylor Hill and Romee Strijd

Being Victoria’s Secret Angels, it’s not surprising to see models Taylor Hill and Romee Strijd wear lace corsets as tops with Taylor donning hers under a leather jacket. Now that’s a pretty sexy style statement.

2. Hailey Balwin

So it looks like the corset is a model favourite. Hailey Baldwin wears hers on a foggy day in Paris over a long-sleeved shirt with a choker and leather pants, a look that’s perfect when you want to layer up, but with an edge.

With her love for fitted waists, Nicki Minaj flaunting a corset comes as no surprise. In trademark Nicki style, she keeps it all black by pairing hers with fitted lace paneled skirt, oversized blazer and gladiator heels.
