8 Hacks To Stop Humidity Killing Your Hair
Don't let humidity affect your hair this summer

With summer right around the corner, we're sure you're dreaming about poolside getaways and sundresses. What you probably aren't thinking about, is the sticky humidity the season brings with it. It's one of summer's greatest troubles which leaves manes frizzy and dull, like something out of The Lion King. Since there's no stopping summer from coming soon, what you can do is stop humidity from affecting your locks with these 8 clever hair hacks.

1. Always Moisturise

Just as you never skip the moisturiser for your face, follow the same routine for your tresses too. When temperatures start rising and with it, the frizz in your hair, add more moisture to your hair care routine. Do this with daily doses of hair conditioner, regular oiling and creamy shampoos infused with enriching ingredients like honey and oils.

2. Skip The Blow Dryer

While your blow dryer might seem like the quickest solution to dry your hair, skip it for mother nature's answer to it i.e air drying. Post a shower, dab excess water from your hair, detangle any knots and leave it to dry naturally. As blow dryers use heat, this can zap moisture from strands and lead to frizz.

3. Stop Washing

You may think you're doing good by washing your hair daily however, you're doing it more harm. What this does is strip sebum which is naturally produced at the scalp. Sebum is crucial for balanced functioning and to keep frizz in check. Wash your hair 3 - 4 times weekly and if overly greasy in between, make dry shampoo your best friend.

4. Turn To Masking

If a regular hair care routine of cleansing, conditioning and oiling isn't doing enough to infuse moisture in your hair, a hair mask is what you need. It will nourish hair from deep within and tame any dreadful frizz that appears. You can make a tried-and-tested hair mask at home by combining the one mashed banana with two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of milk. Mix well and apply to the lengths of your hair. Let it soak for 30 minutes then wash off with warm water and shampoo. Together, these three ingredients will do the trick to moisturise your tresses naturally.

5. Sleep On Silk

For the good of your hair, slip your pillow into a silk case when sleeping. Sleeping on silk does a world of good for your hair by preventing breakage and reducing static that creates frizz. You'll wake up to bouncy, smooth tresses.

6. Trust Products

When stepping outside, sticky heat and gusty breeze can further worsen the condition of humidity affected hair. Turn this around by opting for smoothing products like hair cream and serum. Not only will they tame the tresses, they'll act as a shield so that the elements won't affect them too much.

7. Finishing Touches

Once you have finished showering, rinse your hair with a few tumblers of cold water. Bear with the shivering because the cold temperature helps seal moisture within the strands. This helps them stay smooth and shiny once dry.

8. Throw In The Towel

When wiping your hair dry, ditch the towel for an old cotton t-shirt and use gentle dabbing motions to dry your hair. This won't take away too much moisture and will prevent static from making your mane frizzy and unmanageable.
