You've heard time and again about the virtues of sunscreen. You've heard celebrities rave about it being their most indispensable skincare product and dermatologists advise never leaving home without a coat of it. And if you needed any more recommendations, then Hugh Jackman is the right man for the job. The Australian star, who plays Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, recently took to Instagram to share a health update. While he awaited test results of a biopsy, Hugh took the opportunity to reach out to his followers about the fact that summer is nearing and urged especially those in the Northern Hemisphere to please wear sunscreen. Hugh says, "No matter how much you want a tan, trust me, trust me, trust me. This is all the stuff that happened 25 years ago that's coming out now. Put some sunscreen on, you'll still have an incredible time out there. Please be safe."

Since then, Hugh's biopsy results came out negative for skin cancer so fortunately, he's in the clear. His seriousness about applying sunscreen stems from the fact that in 2013, the actor had cancerous cells removed and has had multiple procedures since then.
While sunscreen has always been impressed upon us to prevent tanning and premature aging, excess exposure to UV rays increases one's risk of basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer. Avoid that entirely by using sunscreen when you step outside and using appropriate sun-protecting gear like hats and scarfs. Like Hugh said, even with sun protection "you'll still have an incredible time out there."
