The buzz around Coldplay performing in India isn't dying down anytime soon. Back-to-back performances in Mumbai on their current Music Of The Spheres world tour left the city with unforgettable memories for a lifetime, and maybe even a trend to take forward.

Whether you attended the concert in person at D.Y. Patil Stadium or caught snippets of Chris Martin crooning on Instagram, chances are you've seen how mesmerising the concert looked, especially from a bird's eye view. With the stage bustling with sound and energy, the audience sparkled in various gleaming hues, looking like nothing less than a sky full of stars.

The reason for that was the illuminated wristbands worn by concert-goers. Attendees of Coldplay concerts across the world are allotted a xyloband as part of their entry to the show, a move which has been in effect since their Mylo Xyloto tour in 2011. The xylobands act as top-up cards for transactions and are radio-controlled with a receiver that directs them when to flash. This allows the wrist candy to light up in sync with the music being performed and create a vibrant spectacle that involves everybody.

Coldplay's signature xylobands are also synchronous with their sustainability mandate as the reusable LED wristbands worn by the audience are made from 100% compostable, plant-based materials. They have stated that their wristband return rate averaged 86% during the first year of the current tour and they reduced wristband production by 80% by collecting, sterilising and recharging the pieces after every show.

The light-up wristbands have soared so greatly in popularity that they are becoming an accessory to sport outside of a concert venue too. In fact, they are steadily being sported at Indian wedding functions to add to the festive vibe and snazzy decor of the event. A video from a recent sangeet function at a Hindu wedding shows illuminated wristbands being distributed amongst the guests and the bridal couple, which lights up simultaneously with the musical performances on the stage.

As Indian weddings already featuring fairy lights, lamps and halogens in various formats as part of their decor, the addition of illuminated wristbands feel like a natural part to add a buzz to the event. Reshma Ramaiah, the Director of USA Operations and Co-Founder of Resh&Co, luxury destination wedding planners, shares her expertise, saying, "Coldplay-inspired wristbands are a fantastic way to create immersive and interactive wedding experiences. These LED wristbands can be customized to sync with the music, lighting, and overall theme, turning every guest into an active participant in the celebration."

Reshma adds, "Imagine a sangeet where the wristbands pulse in sync with the beat or a romantic moment where they glow softly during the couple's first dance. They not only enhance the visual spectacle but also make guests feel deeply connected to the event. It's a perfect blend of technology and personalization that can elevate any wedding function into an unforgettable experience."
