The trailer of Alia Bhatt's much awaited film Raazi is finally out and it is already winning her praise for her gripping performance. Presented by Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions, Alia plays the role of an Indian spy, who goes by the name of Sehmat and is planted in Pakistan as the wife of a local. Meghna Gulzar's film, which is based on a true story, seems to be a portrayal of three key elements: love, betrayal and patriotism.
The movie posters that have been released show Alia in different roles - a daughter, a wife and a spy. The two-minute trailer further reveals the storyline where we see a naive young woman being trained to become a spy and then made to marry a Pakistani officer (Vicky Kaushal) on the orders of her father (Rajit Kapur). She almost makes you believe in her love for her husband before you learn that she has been strategically carrying out her spy duties.
Alia Bhatt's look in the movie is striking as she transforms from one character to the other. As a Kashmiri daughter, we see her in colourful salwar suits, pherans and pashmina shawls with traditional floral embroidery.

As a Pakistani wife, she wears elegant sarees and lehengas in pastel shades, embellished with sequin details.

In her character as a spy, Alia adopts on any apparel that serves the purpose - from trackpants to burqa.
Alia Bhatt has indeed come a long way since her first performance as rich girl Shanaya Singhania in Student Of The Year. She has given hit after hit without being afraid to take on different roles. Be it a survivor of sexual abuse in Highway and Udta Punjab to the carefree young heart breaker in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Kapoor And Sons to the troubled young woman of Dear Zindagi, each performance has been impressive. We can't wait to see more of Alia on the big screen.
Raazi is slated to release in theatres on May 11 and we can't wait to find out what happens to Sehmat as she spends her days in Pakistan.
