Recently, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the Z-Morh tunnel, also known as the Sonamarg tunnel, in Jammu and Kashmir.

Located in the beautiful Ganderbal district, the Z-Morh tunnel will provide easy connectivity between Srinagar and Sonamarg, providing an all-weather route for travellers. 1. Thajwas Glacier 

For all nature lovers, this site is a must-visit. One can trek or hire a horse or pony to reach the Thajwas glacier. The 45-minute ride offers stunning views, culminating in a snow-covered wonderland at the top. The glacier offers lush greenery, pristine clear water, and lots of friendly tourists on the way. 

2. Zoji La Pass 

Zoji La is another must-visit site to see in Sonamarg. The high mountain pass is located in the Dras, near Ladakh, at an altitude of 3528m above sea level. Zoji is known as one of the world's most dangerous mountain roads, and it remains closed during winter due to heavy snowfall and avalanches. 

3. Gangbal Lake Trek 

The Gangabal Lake Trek is a trek that starts from the quaint town of Sonamarg. The trek covers a distance of approximately 20 km so if you are more of an adventurist, then this trek is definitely for you. The trail is marked with rocky terrains, narrow ridges, and streams, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience. 

4. Krishnasagar Lake 

Another lake easily accessible from Sonamarg is the Krishnasar Lake. Located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, the lake is one of the highest-altitude lakes in the Kashmir Valley and is part of the famous trekking route known as the Great Lakes Trek. The lake is a popular spot for camping under the stars and fishing in pristine waters. 

5. Nichinai Pass 

Standing about 4,139 meters above sea level, Nichinai Pass is another major tourist attraction in Sonamarg. The place is approximately 13 km away from Sonamarg and is a well-known pathway for trekkers. One of the major attractions here is its frozen glacier nearby.
