Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is busy supporting his elder son, Junaid Khan, as he gears up for the release of his first theatrical film, Loveyapa. Aamir Khan made a special appearance at the launch event, along with the film's cast.
In an interaction from the event, Aamir called himself an “absent father” and revealed how his children navigated their childhood on their own. He said, “As a father, I have been quite absent. I used to be in my own world while my kids navigated their childhood on their own. Today, I am extremely proud of how Junaid chose a career path for himself on his own terms. I have been in the industry since 1988. It has been over 36 years. Now that my son has also stepped into the same industry, it is a very emotional moment for me. I really wish him well.”

Aamir Khan further shared how he and his first wife, Reena Dutta, passed on the learnings his mother taught him when he was a kid. He stated, “I am very proud and happy with the way he is conducting himself. Reena and I passed on the same discipline to Junaid and Ira that was given to me by my mother.”
This is not the first time Aamir has spoken about not being there for his children. Earlier, in August 2024, in a podcast with Rhea Chakraborty, Aamir revealed his past choices and how he was not there for his children. He stated, “Ira was struggling with depression at that time; she is much better now, but then she needed me. Junaid is starting; if I am not with him at this time, what's the point? Azad is 9 years old now. In another 3 years, he will be a teenager. His childhood won't come back.”
