Yet another major event of the year, the Vogue Beauty Awards, took place in Mumbai last night. And yet again, Bollywood stars brought their A-game with what they wore to the event. With Kangana Ranaut bagging the Beauty of the Year title, and Katrina winning the "Fitspiration" of the Year title, little to nothing was surprising for us fans. But what did stand out in the crowd was all the glam and glitzy looks that many people donned. Apart from red being the colour of the night, it was the sparkling, sequin dresses that made us look twice, sit up and take notice.
Clearly, it is not just weddings and fashion weeks where such dresses and gowns make an appearance. Of course, it isn't easy to carry a sequin dress (read sequin anything), but the Bollywood stars who wore it last night totally rocked it, and schooled us on the subject.

Sonakshi Sinha actually looked like "asli Sona" in her golden Ali Younes gown. The actress, who has come a long way when it comes to her fashion and style game, was looking absolutely chic and glamorous.

Style takeaway: when wearing a sparkly dress keep the makeup minimal and let the dress do the talking.

Actress Sagarika Ghatge looked absolutely gorgeous in her blood-red Falguni & Shane Peacock gown. Not only did the colour looking striking on her, the cut made her look statuesque.

Style takeaway: when wearing a sparkly dress, accessorize less.
Nushrat Bharucha in her silver mermaid gown was Rihanna's dream come true - she, quite literally, shone bright like a diamond in that strapless fitted gown.

Style take away: when wearing a sequin dress, pick a tone and go with that when focusing on makeup and accessorizing.
So the next time you are wary to try a jazzy flashy dress, keep these three things in my mind for the basics and you will do well.
