Aragam village of Kashmir's Bandipora district is set to become India's largest book village. As per reports, a Pune-based non-government organisation, 'Sarhad', will be working on this in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir government to establish the book village with the backdrop of the state's lush beauty. The proposal for the same has already been submitted.

The reason for choosing Aragam village as a book village as per the NGO's representative, is the scenic location with unparalleled beauty which is captivating and the perfect location for readers who love the calm. He also said that the beauty of the village can inspire the readers to look into Kashmir's culture, history, and Kashmiri literature. He further explained that because of turning this village into a special and unique destination, visitors will be able to learn about the locals' ancient literature, history, and culture from close. They aim to make books from all over the world be available to interested readers.
Books from 6 languages will be made available
It will be a village with all kinds of books and art, from manuscripts, and artefacts to paintings, where the culture will be showcased innovatively. The huge library building will initially have books in six languages, including Urdu, English, Kashmiri, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali.
