Beauty Trends 2020: These 7 Makeup Trends Are Finally Ending In 2020
These makeup trends have come to their end in 2020

Makeup trends are the lifeblood of what lies ahead in the beauty world, what you can expect from runway shows and what your favourite celebrity will be seen in. They can vary from experimental and eye-catching to subtle and everyday wearable but most of all, they should be enjoyable. At the end of the day, makeup is an art form in itself so its entire process should be creative, fulfilling, appealing and attractive. Some trends unfortunately do not tick all of these boxes. Many makeup trends, though highly creative in their process, just don't have appeal, aren't very attractive and can also be damaging. In 2020, 7 of those makeup trends finally ended and we couldn't be happier.

7 Makeup Trends Of 2020 That Ended In 2020

We're counting down some of the most bizarre makeup trends that finally got put to rest during the year. Thanks for that, 2020.

1. Spider Eyelashes

Defined by a clumpy, stringy look on the lashes, spider eyelashes have almost nothing going for them. Sure they hold a certain nostalgic value for the 80s and can look appealing in editorials but apart from that, don't have many tick marks working for them. Don't even get us started on the removal process.

2. Dramatic Lips

With lips being hidden under face masks through most of the year, dramatic lip looks came to a natural end in 2020. Whether they were covered in bold shades, glitter finishes or stones, we bid them adieu with a goodbye kiss in favour of more subtle looks instead.

3. Cut Crease Eye Shadow

Cut crease eye shadow makeup requires one to possess a certain level of makeup skill and precision. With makeup overall getting a more subtle update during the year, the overly cut and colour eye makeup look faded in popularity this year.

4. Heavy Base Makeup

Owing to circumstances of 2020, you could call this the year of minimal makeup or entirely bare skin. Even when base makeup was worn, it was light enough to conceal spots and brighten skin. Packing on layers of foundation and concealer plus baking it in with powder weren't opted for as much in 2020.

5. Pierced Manicures

Much like spider lashes, pierced manicures definitely have their own appeal. But at what cost? They definitely look edgy with rings and studs pierced through the nail but in all probability, you might snag your t-shirt on it and they can end up damaging the nail. No thank you.

6. Too Much Contouring

Contouring and highlighting have been trending for a couple of years now and they will only continue to be, as long as they adapt to the times. The days of heavily drawn in contouring and excessive highlighting are gone with more natural face defining taking its place in 2020.

7. Feather Brows

Brows can be a playground for all sorts of experimental eye makeup looks. While feather brows can be fun, they aren't very practical. Brows are most attractive when they are groomed, full and defined and feather brows don't tick any of those boxes for us.
