The oil cleansing method has been on the skincare scene for a little while now. Contrary to your usual face cleansing practice, the oil cleansing method is a more natural skincare approach. You can cleanse your face without stripping off the natural oils from it and achieve clear, balanced skin using the oil cleansing method. The basic idea behind this is that water-based cleansers can only get rid of all the dirt on the upper layer of the skin, but oils can get rid of pesky makeup, excess sebum, pollutants and dead skin cells. Scroll down to know all about it, the benefits of the oil cleansing method and how it works.

The basic idea of oil cleansing is to use natural oils in a specific combination to cleanse the skin and naturally balance the skin's natural oils. The oil cleansing method involves using oil - instead of soap - to clear away dirt and oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. You can use oil-based cleansers too to remove your makeup, soothe your irritated skin, control breakouts, etc. Cleansing oils contain hydrating ingredients that boost your skin's hydration and leave a soothing effect.
How To Oil Cleanse Your Face?
Before you start the oil cleansing method, do a patch test on your skin to determine if you are allergic to any of the oils. Also, know the quantities of the oils to be used and the suitable ones for your skin type.
1. Cleanse Your Face
Pour about a quarter-size amount of the oil blend into your hand. Apply it on your face. Massage gently for 2 minutes using your fingertips to let the oil seep inside your skin. Use smooth circular strokes and let this also be a gentle facial massage.

2. Use A Washcloth
Place a clean, warm washcloth and place it over your face. This will create steam against the skin to remove the oils and any impurities in the skin. Leave the washcloth on for about a minute, or until it cools. Repeat if needed with the other side of the washcloth and then use the corners of the washcloth to gently remove any remaining oil.
3. Moisturise
Pat dry your face with a towel gently and apply a gentle face moisturiser.
Benefits Of Oil-Cleansing Method
It removes your makeup gently without causing any harm. Additionally, it can also make your skin hydrated, supple and soft.
It actually balances oil production in your skin. It can clean your skin pores and unclog them.
Moreover, it can clean off the dirt, impurities and excess sebum from your face. However, stop the process if you have skin irritation.

Notes On The Oil-Cleansing Method
Your skin takes time to get adjusted to the process of oil cleansing. Wait for at least 2 to 3 weeks to see visible results. You should oil cleanse only once a day. Do it before you go to bed. That way your skin would get enough time to get hydrated and moisturised.
Oil cleansing usually does not cause any acne breakout. But since your skin takes a little time to get adjusted to the oil cleansing method, you may notice some mild sensation.
