What a rollercoaster ride the year 2021 has been! Although the pandemic made everything take a back seat, B-town was always prepared to bring its A-game when it came to fashion. From adhering to safety norms to setting up fashion goals, the celebs did it all. While some made style statements with stay-at-home fashion, many sought to power dressing, shimmer, and shine to compensate for all the lost time on the red carpets and on-screen drama. From baggy fits to sensual corsets, striking prints to colour pop - read on to find out some of the biggest hits of the Bollywood fashion box office.

1. All Things Oversized
What happened to skinny jeans, you ask? Well, 2021 was the season for all things oversized. Be it sweatshirts, t-shirts, or pants, celebrities made sure to prioritize comfort and make off-duty ensembles effortless. Case in point - Anushka Sharma's casual day out in the park and of course Ranveer Singh who can, well, rock any look.
2. Tie-Dye Prints
Trending prints in tie-dye were seen throughout seasons, continuing from 2020. From airport fashion to home parties, tie-dye dresses, tees, athleisure sets, and even sarees did the rounds. We especially loved Sanya Malhotra's chic tie-dye drawstring dress as well as Ananya Panday's fun and casual tie-dye pants.
3. Shine Bright Like Neon
Popping neon colour palettes were a bit hit and an eye-catchy trend of 2021. The vibrant and striking attires in neon called for a party of some of the best outfits in B-town. Styling neon colors can sometimes be tricky, but thankfully our stars only won hearts. Who wouldn't love Divya Khosla Kumar's rocking birthday outfit in neon green and Sara Ali Khan's chic dress?
4. Infinity Blouse
This new and statement piece introduced towards the end of the year instantly created a buzz. With a resemblance to the infinity symbol, it had netizens hooked. Manish Malhotra stated that this concept arose from the scarp-style blouses of the women of Kutch. The 'It' blouse checks all fashion boxes and spills only pizzazz. We can't stop eyeing Radhika Madan pulling off the look with checkered pants and of course, Alia Bhatt in yet another trendsetting lehenga.
5. Level Up With Leather
Celebs were seen in striking leather outfits this year. From faux leather pants to co-ords, we loved how the stars added a chic rocker edge to their style statements. The year is about to end, but we still haven't gotten over Tara Sutaria's choco brown leather set. Not to forget Deepika Padukone, who made us go green with envy with her monochrome look.
6. Midriff Flossing
From bikinis to shirts, tops, and even bridesmaid lehengas, this trend caught quite a pace. Our celebs set the temperatures soaring with these delicate tie-up fastenings. A treat to the eyes was Janhvi Kapoor in a golden midriff flossing dress from Pink Porcupines as well as Samantha Ruth Prabhu in her Lovelate20s outfit.
7. Statement Sleeves
Pupped, ruffled, or bell-shaped sleeves - you name it and we saw it all in 2021. We all love some drama and these exaggerated sleeves were a popular pick in B-town for a showstopping look. Featured through kaftans, evening gowns, and blouses, celebs had glamour rolled up in their sleeves. Need proof? There was Kiara Advani in a power suit and of course style queen Malaika Arora in a metallic outfit.
8. Nothing Like Athleisure
While 2021 had its share of lockdowns, B-town celebs still left a mark with their athleisure style statements. For some convenient at-home fashion, athleisure always came to the rescue. Quick and comfortable, athleisure was spotted in different prints and patterns all through the year. No chance that we could miss out on Kareena Kapoor Khan in such a vibrant Puma athleisure and Katrina Kaif in an equally colorful Reebok outfit.
9. Forever Love - Pastels
Subtle, elegant yet attractive pastel colours were seen in heavy demand among all celebs. From evening gowns to sarees, everything had an extra touch of grace and radiance and made our celebs look picture perfect. Even when it came to festive looks, celebs didn't leave out pastel. Priyanka Chopra was a gorgeous desi girl in a pastel printed lehenga for Diwali. Sonam Kapoor too, was a sight to behold at her sister's wedding celebrations.
10. Keeping Up With Corsets
Probably it was the Bridgeton hangover in Bollywood that corsets were a peak fashion statement of the year 2021. Pairing it with pants, skirts or even sarees was the new found fashion game in B-Town. Just take a look at Nora Fatehi and Khushi Kapoor looking stunning in their corset attires.
11. Shimmer and Shine
Much like the glittery events of Bollywood, our celebs too had an extra touch of sequins and embellishments in 2021. Bright and beautiful, the divas stood out in their shimmery attires. Take a look at showstopper Masaba Gupta who is a true golden girl and Bhumi Pednekar bringing in purple love in a metallic Amit Aggarwal creation.
Not just these but tennis skirts, co-ord sets, and pantsuits too had a great impact all through the year. Celebs inspired everyday looks and glamorous makeovers. We can't wait to see what new trends and fashion statements will unfold in 2022. Here's looking forward to another fashionable year.
