How would you describe your makeup like?
Bhumi Pednekar: "Just like the roles I play, I like to keep my makeup versatile as one day I will be a minimalist and one day I will be all about glamour, so you see it's all about my mood and variation. My makeup looks solely depend on the mood I am in so there is not one signature look. The one thing that has been constant in my makeup is the element of elegance. I believe in every makeover, be it loud or be it subtle, the touch of elegance just amplifies the beauty of the look."
And how is your everyday skincare routine like?
Bhumi Pednekar: "Since childhood, I have always been the kind of person who gives priority to skincare every day, and even now as an actor nothing has changed. My routine is quite simple but I try to stay consistent, it involves the three basic steps- cleanse, tone and moisturise. I follow these steps religiously as being an actor I have to wear makeup almost all day long and my skin definitely demands pampering after that. I try to do my skincare regimen twice a day and I never sleep with my makeup on."
What are some of the beauty rituals that you just cannot miss?
Bhumi Pednekar: "The beauty ritual that I cannot miss is prepping my skin before makeup. I think people don't put enough stress on the importance of hydrating their skin before makeup because ultimately to achieve flawless makeup one has to prep well. Nobody desires dry and patchy makeup and for that to happen we all need to take care of our face beforehand."
How do you feel about the revolutionary phase Indian beauty is going about?
Bhumi Pednekar: "Lately, the Indian beauty scene has drastically changed as the consumers are getting more educated with the trends through social media exposure which is resulting in the coming of luxury international brands in India. It is seen that consumers are increasingly shifting towards natural, herbal and cruelty-free products because they are associated with sustainability and considered safe for human skin. Today we witness the inclusion of makeup as an expression for the women of the country as they get vocal about the power of makeup and the confidence it gives them."
What is that one beauty advice that you want to give every enthusiast to swear by?
Bhumi Pednekar: "I would say explore and experiment as the universe of makeup is quite diverse. Personally, I feel by exploring makeup, I have found individuality and expression. Makeup withholds the power of transforming and only by experimenting with it, one can understand the depth of what it has to offer. Just explore and practice your way out of makeup and you will see the love you will start developing towards it."
