Blake Lively's Beach Waves Are Summer Hair Goals

What's better than being by the sea in summer? Nothing, really. The sun, sand and sunshine is a combination nothing else even comes close to during the scorching season. Since it's a summer spot that most of us can readily agree upon, obviously the ocean-inspired hairdo it has blessed us with is also perfect for the season.

At some point or another, we've all heard of beach waves. No, we aren't talking about the moving tides coming in. We're referring to the popular hairstyle defined by large, loose waves and generally rough texture which together lends a carelessly chic look. Not only is it a preferred choice of hairstylists globally, beach waves have been spotted time and again on the red carpet. Most recently, on our favourite Gossip Girl, Blake Lively.

At a recent event by Lorraine Schwartz, which saw the launch of her new evil eye bangle, Blake was spotted with her sister, Robyn Lively. In a fitted black Brandon Maxwell strapless midi dress, silver heels, radiant makeup, an armful of bracelets and large glittering hoops, the actor looked like nothing short of a dream. But it wasn't her outfit that had us sit up and pay attention, it was her 'do. Along with the chic formal ensemble, Blake wore her blonde tresses and dark roots in side-parted frizzy waves. It was the ideal contrast that lent the look just a bit of laidback effortlessness. Trust a Gossip Girl alumni to give us summer hair goals long after her stylish stint on the show is over.

The great part is, beach waves aren't only reserved for the stars; it's also possible to try them at home for yourself. A quick route is by spritzing sea salt spray through the lengths of dry hair and rolling them in sections until dried. When you unwind them, you'll discover large waves throughout your mane. A more detailed way is to curl hair sections into tight curls using a tong and then unraveling it with your fingers to reveal shiny, big waves.
