Newlywed and all that, Sonam Kapoor has had a very happening week. From donning some fab designer wear to enjoying her wedding that was clearly high on excitement, she now has two major things to look forward to: Cannes and the release of her movie Veere Di Wedding. And as the actress looks forward to these things, I think right now is the best time for us to look back on some very defining moments that Sonam Kapoor gave us on the Cannes red carpet.

Sonam's tryst with fashion is now an oft-repeated tale that begets some marvellous looks, fashion-defining styling, and also sartorial goals. Many people I know actually love it enough to emulate Sonam's style in their life. So it is not surprising that Sonam has made a mark for herself at Cannes.

Here are three times that Sonam Kapoor made us go wow as she stepped onto the red carpet.

The time Sonam wore this white fairytale gown by Ralph & Russo. It wasn't just the fact that she looked absolutely surreal, but Sonam made an exaggerated cape look like a cakewalk. The dress did the work and her minimal make up was a beginning of a trend that many caught on to.

The time she went all fusion on the red carpet. I think no one will ever forget the natth and the choker that Sonam Kapoor paired with her Anamika Khanna saree-dresses. Two different years, two different style goals doled out.

When Sonam wore a shiny saree on the red carpet - Indian designer + Indian wear = many Indian hearts won. Rimzim Dadu's electric blue and black saree was a statement in not just its roots but also its make and form. The pallu of the saree was constructed out of hair-thin metal yarn sewn together.

Here's hoping for more groundbreaking looks this year.
