Natalie Portman's red carpet entry is an ode to one fashion world's most iconic dresses

Whenever Natalie Portman arrives on the red carpet, she weaves stories in the most fashionable way with her outfit choices. At the Cannes Film Festival 2023, she is history in the works dressed in Dior's glamourous couture gown for her upcoming movie, May December. The petal gown was a recreation of Monsieur Christian Dior's iconic "Junon" dress from 1949. The masterpiece is a strapless flouncy silhouette with a white bodice and a layered skirt in the shape of overlapping flower petals embroidered with blue ombre sequins to dramatic effect. Natalie Portman's gown was complemented with sparkling drop diamond earrings for added elegance.

Natalie Portman's relationship with Dior continues to strengthen even after a decade. It only seems fitting for her to return to the red carpet in one of the brand's most important and iconic dresses of all time. This is perhaps one of the first times Dior has recreated a historic piece of art for the red carpet and for it to be worn specially by Natalie makes it a significant and powerful red carpet moment. The original dress rests beautifully on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
