Cannes Film Festival 2023 began on 16th May 2023 and will continue till 27th May 2023. The past week of the festival has already been like an ongoing fashion show. With some gorgeous hits and a few misses, we have thoroughly enjoyed the fashion displays on the red carpet. In a string of celebrity fashion choices, we've picked our favourites. Are you ready for our week 1 recap?
Mrunal Thakur debuted at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 and was a total vision in white. She picked a daring cutout gown that featured a form-fitting silhouette with large ruffles and made her debut a classic hit. The white gown from Falguni Shane Peacock had a sheer trail to follow with its signature feather-like embellishments.
Manushi Chhillar who also made her debut this year looked phenomenal in a striking white gown from designer Fovari's wedding collection. The strapless corseted bodice came with a beautiful trail to follow.
Aishwarya Rai has been attending the Cannes Film Festival for many years now. Raising the glam bar higher every time, the actress picked a hooded gown and made a dramatic style statement. The star wore a silver sequin gown with a shimmering train of the same fabric. The gown featured a structured hood draped above her head and an oversized black bow at the waist covering the length of the dress in the front.
The luxury couture designer Falguni Shane Peacock made their red-carpet debut after having dressed many celebrities in the past. Falguni Peacock wore a blush pink fitted gown that extended in a flowy hem and had an elaborate bow on the bustier which complemented her sleeveless gown. Shane complemented her in a tuxedo, featuring a velvet jacket, straight trousers, and a classic white formal shirt. The jacket came with subtle embroidery.
Dua Lipa arrived on the red carpet at Cannes 2023 for the very first time in a classic black gown by Hedi Slimane for Celine. The uber-chic gown featured cutout detailing. She added to the minimal look with a pair of studded dangler earrings.
Alessandra Ambrosio took to the hooded trend to a whole new level as she chose a deep plum-coloured gown with a hooded neckline for the red carpet. The vintage Elie Saab gown was embellished with sequins and was a perfect combination of glitz and glamour.
Esha Gupta, who also made her Cannes debut this year, was seen wearing a pastel flowy gown by Nicholas Jebran with a daring thigh-high slight, a mesh neckline, and 3D flowers embroidered. She completed her minimal look with chic jewellery and glam makeup.
Vijay Varma was styled in a white wrap-around asymmetrical full-sleeve kurta with loose pants, featuring colourful green and blue embroidery over the sides. He layered the kurta with a full-sleeve coat and completed the look with a pair of uber-cool sunglasses.
Sara Ali Khan was yet another debutant at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and took the desi route in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga. The beige and ivory embroidered lehenga with a short-sleeved blouse and a gorgeous veil was a stunner no doubt.
Week 1 at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 was indeed a glamorous affair and we can't wait for the 2nd week to unfold.
