A Chinese Man Spends Rs 3.5 Crores To Build Shin-Chan's Cartoon House

It would be incorrect to call yourself an anime lover if you have not watched Shin-chan. The kid-friendly comedy series has a global fan base, and if you are a true fan, you will definitely remember Shinnosuke Nohara's house – the one with the red and white bricks. Well, believe it or not, a 21-year-old spent approximately $400,000, which is around Rs 3.5 crores, to recreate that very house and live in it.

According to Record China, Shen took over his family's sheep farm and spent over a year working on this project. He even tracked down the exclusive licensing agent for Crayon Shin-chan in China and made five trips to Shanghai to secure the official rights.

The construction of the house began in July 2024. It required custom-made materials, which made the project even pricier. Shen's mother supported him financially to help bring this dream to life. The nearly finished house spans around 100 square meters and will soon be a photography hotspot for fans and cosplayers.

Shen's plans do not stop with this house. He is hoping to recreate Futaba Kindergarten from the anime and turn it into an educational centre. His ultimate dream is to build the entire Kasukabe Town from Shin-chan and create a real-world space where fans can experience the world of Shin-chan like never before.

The Crayon Shin-chan series, created by Yoshito Usui, made its debut as a comic in 1990. It quickly became a fan favourite with its unique humour and relatable characters. Following Yoshito Usui's death in 2009, his team continued the series under the banner Yoshito Usui & UY Studio, ensuring that Shin-chan's legacy remained alive.
