When one thinks of Cannes, one thinks of white sandy beaches, yachts anchored at the shore, bubbly flowing like tap water and lest we forget the red carpet laid out for the creme de la creme of international cinema at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Housed in the heart of the capital, we may not be able to take you to the white sandy beaches but with the arrival of CosyBox, one can surely have a good time. Cannes Film Festival's official food partner, CosyBox, launched their India chapter in New Delhi by Aashish and Shikha Ashish Begwani in collaboration with the original Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Vesini. The restaurant has Cannes dancing to its tunes with a fancy food fair and a cocktail experience like no other. Its entry into Delhi's buzzing party scene was obviously going to be a big deal. We found us sporting our jazziest too on one weekend to experiment with their array of multicuisine dishes, sparkling cocktails and explore their plush set-up.

The restaurant offers a modish indoor and an outdoor patio seating space, both better than the other. The indoor seating space sets the mood right with its chrome accents but the real party starts outside. The outdoor patio, complete with a dining space fit for small or large gatherings, overlooks sprawling gardens and a water fountain in the chic One Golden Mile address.

The drinks and starters were a delight right from the time we first spotted them in their vast menu. We continued to jam to some of the grooviest tracks as we were served their signature dishes. Owing to its multicuisine nature, we travelled all across the globe in this food adventure. We were first taken to Turkey with the dish Chicken Urfa. The presentation of the skewered chicken chunks gave us the feeling of a deconstructed chicken shawarma that you could make yourself. With all the right flavours and generous portions of the sides, all you had to was roll it up and enjoy. We took a pitstop back home for our next meal with their Tandoori Mushroom which was served with a fresh salad garnished on top.

We were dying to explore their seafood section and were pleased when the Chilli Butter Prawns arrived to go with our incredible line-up of cocktails. No fancy frills but still hit all the right notes, the prawns along with our cocktail - On The Horizon, was a fantastic combination that we'd totally return for.

Cocktails and the Chilli Butter Prawns
We went East and the choicest dimsums and sushi won our hearts. But the showstopping moment arrived when the Mushroom and Truffle Baos entered the room. The presentation of the baos were impressive and it was all because they were shaped as large mushrooms themselves. It comes in a serving of three with generous filling inside; this one's highly recommended for anyone who loves this classic pairing, people like us.

It was time for main course and even though we were stuffed beyond imagination, deep down we were eagerly waiting for what was more in store. Since we were so impressed by the South East Asian appetizers at the restaurant, we decided to take that path. We were served a portion of exotic vegetables in a hot garlic sauce, fiery prawns with fried rice and noodles and it made a chilly winter evening more inviting.

All good things must come to an end but nobody else the ending can't be sweet? We stuck to the classic Tiramisu and boy, were we impressed. The rich creamy decadence of the mascarpone with a jolt of caffeine took us to the Italian countryside and while we'd love to stay, it was finally time for us to leave. With a promise to return to this culinary cosmopolitan, of course!

The Verdict
CosyBox is nestled at the very chic new party address, One Golden Mile and we bet you'd want to be seen here. The plus points certainly are that other than address, the service and quality of the food and drinks are totally at par with New Delhi's party hotspots. We recommend anything from dinner dates on the weekdays to a weekend night out with friends to enjoy the food and beverages at approx. Rs. 3,500 for two.
The Cannes red carpet may be a distant dream, but at CosyBox even that comes true for a celebrity just like you.
