Deepika Padukone To Kangana Ranaut: The Best Of Airport Fashion This Week

Only recently, we wrote about how "the airport seems to be the new runway". If there's a new fashion trend, the airport is most likely where you're going to spot it. Bollywood celebrities seem to be no exception to that rule. Gone are the days when going to the airport to catch a flight meant bringing out your comfiest pyjamas and hoodie. Bollywood stars from Sonam Kapoor to Deepika Padukone make a new fashion statement at the airport almost every week. So much so that more than red carpet fashion, the world seems to be taking cues from airport fashion.

Here are some of our favorite airport looks from the week that went by.

1. Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut is not one to stick to the rules; her history (in films and otherwise) is proof that she makes her own. When it comes to fashion, she's no different. Kangana Ranaut never fails to surprise with what she chooses to wear. She made an appearance earlier this week in a grey grid Anavila saree. While we absolutely loved Kangana's saree and the way she had draped it, what we loved even more was the fact that she paired it with loafers. Yes, loafers under a saree. Talk about being fashionable in the most fuss-free manner. She finished her look off with oversized glasses, rosy cheeks and messy space buns. Kangana just proved that being fashionable definitely does not require being uncomfortable.

2. Alia Bhatt

Most of us know that Alia Bhatt was attending her best friend's wedding in Jodhpur last week, thanks to the many pictures that emerged on social media. Alia looked every bit like the beautiful bridesmaid we thought she would make in beautiful Indian garments from different designers. Alia definitely made multiple style statements with her choice of clothes, jewellery and even hairstyles and makeup; but she didn't stop being stylish even as she switched wedding mode off. Alia returned to Mumbai post the wedding, earlier this week, with her long time friend Akansha Ranjan Kapoor. Although Alia did not forgo her comfort in sneakers, a white tee, black leggings and a long grey coat, it's hard to deny that she looked stylish. After all, some points ought to be given for minimalism.

3. Deepika Padukone

Earlier this week, Deepika Padukone returned from her rather short trip from Paris. On her return, Deepika was spotted at the airport wearing an all black outfit (barring her t-shirt). Her ripped jeans, leather jacket, brogues and oversized cat-eye sunglasses made sure that she looked every bit like the star that she is. Albeit uncomfortable. Yes, we can't help but wonder how Deepika would've sat through that long-haul flight in those tight skinny jeans!

4. Sonam Kapoor

Yellow definitely seems to be Sonam's favorite color for the season. Given that she's wearing it from the airport to the red carpet, we can't help but make that assumption. We're not sure where Sonam was headed off to, but she sure was looking stylish. Sonam's faded yellow button-down shirt with a matching trench coat and royal-blue pants made out of a silk-like material, definitely made for a modish concoction. To top it off, she put on a pair of vintage looking sunglasses. Sonam Kapoor never fails to set the fashion bar higher and higher.

5. Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor might be busy shooting for her film, Stree, opposite Raj Kummar Rao, but that doesn't stop her from making her almost weekly appearance at the airport. Shraddha was spotted at the airport this week wearing a half khaki half printed jacket with black leggings and sneakers. Again, much like Alia, extra points for her minimalistic airport look.
