Taking inspiration from Aakansha, if ever you feel like quitting your job to pursue a career in travel, we have curated a few tips you should consider before making a profession in travelling.
5 Tips To Take Up Travelling As A Profession
1. Choose A Profession For You
With the internet available in nooks and corners of the world, the world has become a smaller place. You have numerous professions to choose from, that involve travelling. According to your skill sets, and education you can choose from being a flight attendant to a tour guide or a trip captain. English tutor, travel writer, photographer, and digital content creator are a few other professions you could explore.
2. Take A Sabbatical
If you do not have a plan ready but want to travel and explore your options, ask your organisation about the sabbatical policies. You can take a break from your job and live a life of your choice, for at least a part of the year.
3. Budget Strategically
One thing that you absolutely need to do is make a reasonable budget as a part of your planning process, especially if you want to quit your existing job to take up travelling as a full-time profession. While planning this, calculate your actual savings and the basic cost of living for the countries you plan to visit. Make a budget for transportation, daily meals, housing, visa, medical and other emergencies.
4. Take Up Short-Term Jobs
When you travel to countries and intend to spend a good amount of time there, take up short-term jobs which will support your living till you make up your mind about what exactly you want to pursue. You can work as a waiter/waitress, a bartender, a tutor, an interpreter (if you are fluent in a foreign language) and more.
5. Save Up
The most common tip for making travelling your profession is to save as much as possible from your job before quitting it. Some of the tips can be simple living, buying only basic, opening a travel-friendly bank account, making investments for travelling, cooking meals at home and shopping less.
We don't say quit your job but we do encourage you to live your life to the fullest.
