Desi Charpai is sold as 'Traditional Indian Bed' online for Rs 1 Lakh

Advertisements had no doubt amazed us in the past. But this time it has gone over the board as an American company is selling the desi charpai as a 'Traditional Indian Bed'. This advertisement for a charpai, the traditional wooden and jute hand-woven bed, usually used in rural Punjab has gone viral. Not just that, but the American E-commerce company is quoting a whopping Rs.1 Lakh for the jute bed.

In the past, we have witnessed a few advertisements demanding exorbitant prices for garbage bags and folding chair bags. Adding to the list is this 'traditional Indian bed'.

American E-commerce site Etsy Inc. sells the traditional Indian jute bed at around INR 1,12,158. The company specialising in vintage items and handicrafts has listed the item as a "Traditional Indian bed, very beautiful decor."

Charpai being sold on E-commerce site

As seen in the screenshot attached, the product description on the e-commerce site reads that it is handmade in nature, can be dispatched from a small business in India, and is made from materials like wood and jute ropes. The Charpai's dimensions can be seen as a width of 36 inches, a height of 72 inches, and a depth of 18 inches.
