Bandra Kurla Complex is bustling with office-goers on weekdays and party animals on the weekends, making it a hub for many restaurants. A sassy addition to these fine-dining spots and plush restaurants is Amazonia, an Amazon rainforest themed restaurant which gives you the feeling of being in the vibrant rainforests of Amazon itself. Its high ceiling, dark interiors and glam tropical vibe makes it a great hangout place for family and friends alike. We visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening and were amazed to find the place gushing with crowds. Sachin, the manager at the restaurant and who was well-versed with the menu, helped us with the selection and ordered a few signature dishes and cocktails for us. Here is how our dining experience went.

The Ambience
Amazonia with its plush interiors, high ceiling, and dark furniture brings glamorous vibes to the space, which is bustling with young couples, families and friends alike. The music is loud and has a weekend party vibe. The lampshades and lights installed in the restaurant were bright amidst the otherwise dark interiors. The imitations of various animals can be seen installed at the centre of the restaurant, keeping the forest theme alive.

The Bar
Amazonia has a long and elaborate cocktail menu named after various countries, apart from their hard drinks and alcohol menu. Each of the cocktails is unique and relates to the country it is named after, in some way or the other. We ordered a London Victorian Fizz which was a Gin-based cocktail with homemade chocolate liquor and egg white. The bittersweet taste of the liquor with the foam of egg white was a perfect night drink. The Spain Amazonia Siesta, was a combination of red wine, brandy with a hint of orange. It was smooth and exotic. The inhouse cocktail menu definitely scored brownie points from us.

The Food
The multi-cuisine at Amazonia is broadly divided into Japanese, Korean, Thai and Italian. We got to taste a little of every variety, allowing us to experiment. We began with Shrimp Tempura Sushi Roll which included shrimp tempura maki sushi in chef-style special creamy and spicy wasabi paste. The little morsels of sushi, which were cold and crunchy, tasted absolutely divine.

The sushi was followed by Amazonia Chicken Chili Oil Dumplings, made of finely chopped chicken cooked to perfection and coated with a thin layer of brown batter. They looked and tasted delicious.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken Skewers were boneless strips of chicken served on a hot plate and were spicy, tangy and juicy. They were one of the signature dishes of Amazonia and we agree, for all the right reasons.

We tasted Italian cuisine with a crispy pizza named Trip To Hollywood, which was a fine amalgamation of sauteed mushrooms, chicken sausages, salami Milano with their signature smoked cherry tomato sauce.

Khao Soy at Amazonia was a soothing and relaxing dish with creamy coconut gravy served with curry noodles, vegetables, peanuts, fried onions and an aroma which satiated the taste buds and the mind alike.

For dessert, we were served Blackstone which is one of the two of their signature desserts. It was a hazelnut mousse with crispy, crunchy and a tad bit of salty favour, served with raspberry sauce and white cream.

The Verdict
Amazonia, with its variety of cuisines, has something in store for every kind of eater. The gorgeous decor, and prompt service wins our hearts and the lip-smacking dishes will definitely fill your tummy with its rich and authentic flavours.
