Enjoying A Meal At Megu In New Delhi Is Almost As Good As Having One In Japan
Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine at this fine-dining restaurant in New Delhi

Living in Delhi, one assumes the prerequisite requirement of a good Japanese restaurant is to simply have good sushi on your menu. At Megu, located at the Leela Palace in New Delhi, the experience of eating a Japanese meal is beyond the ordinary imagination and definitely beyond good sushi. For true connoisseurs of Japanese cuisine, Megu is not just a restaurant; it is an exquisite journey into the heart of its culinary traditions. Megu offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine with modern sophistication. You will first be greeted with spacious dining spaces but will eventually reach the heart of the restaurant, under the giant bell where the glass Buddha resides. If you're seeking good luck, you can pour water on the statue but chances are you're already in for good luck when you arrive for a meal at the restaurant.

Once at the restaurant, you can rest your faith in the hands of the highly trained chefs of Megu. Which is why the Omakase meal couldn't be recommended enough. Omakase meaning "I leave it up to you" is a concept where the chef is responsible for whipping up a meal from start to finish that you know nothing about but going by your likes and dislikes, one can trust the chef to serve you something delicious. It's easy to trust the chefs here. You'll know why upon arrival. The feeling of surprise will leave you impressed with each serving, almost like a child at a magic show.

The appetisers included an innovative dish called Shira Ae, a cold entree made with tofu, and the most sinful sesame sauce, Salmon Tartare served with toasted white bread and the Yellowtail Carpaccio with a subtle yet flavourful Ponzu dressing.

Let's be fair though - don't we just love a good sushi? How could we deprive ourselves of it at this Japanese haven? The Tuna and Ebi Tempura Maki Sushi Rolls were made to perfection denying you the urge to stop at just one.

For the mains, there were Rock Shrimps, a batter-fried preparation coated with their special sauce that still got that crunch when you bit into it and the Grilled Chilean Sea Bass served with a portion of fried rice that had an umami flavour when devoured individually or combined.

To end the meal (it's more of a need than a want), a cup of freshly brewed Matcha Green Tea works as the perfect digestive. Somehow compelling you to eat some more soon after you've stuffed yourself to the brim

Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or someone looking to explore Japanese fine dining, Megu promises to be a culinary revelation, that's for certain.
