We've been trying to wrap our heads around figuring out whether the face mask bikinis are masks or bikinis or perhaps even both; do we call it a mask-ini now? Masks are the first and foremost essential commodity since the break of the dreadful pandemic and we're all aware of its uses and benefits. Bikinis however, not so much. So how did this face mask bikini trend even emerge? It was not long before we realised that being confined to the perils of your homes meant not being able to have a great bikini clad summer unless you're well, a celebrity of course. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid among others made sure to make the most of their summers in their pools completely bikini clad. It wasn't too long before we noticed that their bikinis resembled well, face masks. The internet broke and hasn't recovered ever since.
The face mask bikini doesn't involve any masks after all but the teeny tiny top and bottom of the bikini sets strikingly resemble one. Unless you're supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, you can't quite rock an actual mask as a bikini (or can you?). These supermodels are known to be big fans of these tiny bikinis and probably deserve credit for having started this trend even before the world was struck by the pandemic. Ever since the celebs were spotted in these teeny tiny bikinis aka the face mask bikinis many stores and brands made way for these in the market. With online retail still the way to go for most shoppers, the scorching heat made sure people got their hands on it. To our surprise (not really) these sold out quicker than hot-hot jalebis on a cold day. Brands like Asos strategically sold many of these face mask bikinis in no time. Not too long after, the face mask bikinis gave way to smaller renditions of the regular bikinis as well and we started seeing mini bikinis that didn't resemble masks but still somehow were tinier than usual.

Other celebs who are seen rocking these face mask bikinis are Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Ratajkowski, Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Bieber and Sofia Richie.
The question however arises whether who can really wear these bikinis after all? As is obvious, larger chested women may have a tough time wearing a bikini like the popular face mask bikini trend. For smaller chested women, these face mask bikinis may be your answer to a hot girl summer. If you still really want to jump on the bandwagon of face mask bikinis like your favourite celebrities then don't look any further, ladies.
