Alaya Furniturewala is a fitness enthusiast, and her Instagram is proof. The star makes sure to update her fans daily with her yoga and many other workout snippets.
Recently, the star shared her “life lately” post, and it had a workout in it, of course. In the first post, Alaya was seen doing some yoga asanas. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Life Lately: spent most of the first half of January upside down but never felt more grounded.” If, like Alaya, you too wish to keep yourself fit by trying out yoga, we have listed some effective yoga asanas for you to begin with.

Downward Facing Dog
This is a simple and effective yoga asana to begin with. Start on the floor with your hands kept shoulder-width apart. Next, tuck your feet against the mat or ground, extend your legs, and lift both knees off the ground. Your body should now resemble an upside-down V. Next, extend and lengthen your spine, hold onto this position, and release.
Mountain Pose
Another beneficial pose is the Mountain pose, which improves postural and body awareness by stacking the shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles. All you need to do is stand with your feet slightly apart, lift and spread your toes, and then lower them back to the mat. Align your head, shoulders, hips, and ankles in a straight line. Let your arms fall at your sides with palms facing forward. Hold onto this position for some time and then release.
Cat and Cow Pose
This is another effective asana for your whole body, especially your back. Kneel on the floor and put your hands in front of you. Inhale deeply while curving your lower back and bringing your head up, tilting your pelvis up. Exhale deeply and bring your abdomen in. Repeat several times and then relax.
Tree Pose
Tree pose benefits both your body and mind. To do this pose, all you need to do is stand with your feet together and your knees slightly bent. Bring your hands together in a prayer position. Shift your weight into your right foot, lift your left foot off the ground, bend it, and open it to the left side. Hold on to this position for some time, repeat the same with your right foot, and relax.
Cobra Pose
Another effective yoga pose is the Cobra pose. It helps strengthen your back and hand muscles. Start by lying on your stomach with your palms flat on the ground. Bend your elbows back and inhale to lift your chest off the floor. Hold on to this position for some time, get back to normal, and relax.
