Like any year, 2023 was a year that gave us notable breakthroughs in beauty and skincare. Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities were more than willing this year to share their own beauty hacks and tips, some from their own skincare diaries and others borrowed from the experts who have guided them over the years. From Alia Bhatt to Kriti Sanon, everyone has given us some tips to look flawless. Firstly, Alia graciously gave us the key to her impeccable sun-kissed makeup. She spilled the beans on her swift 10-minute routine, giving us that much-needed inspiration for that “sunburnt glow”. While many of us use foundation as a quick fix, begging to differ, Alia said, "My go-to for skin, building skin is to not go for foundation. I prefer to go for skin tints". For the Brahmastra actress a “sunburnt glow” meant the “feeling that you feel after being in the sun all day where you're tired, but there's like this glow on your face and you are naturally flushed and you just look like a child of the earth?"

That was Alia sharing her sunburnt glow secret, but do you remember her lipstick hack? The actress, in a video from Vogue, revealed that contrary to moving the lipstick across her mouth, she moves her lips instead. Click below for a quick recap of that 2023 standout beauty

Joining the makeup bandwagon was Bhumi Pednekar, giving us a glimpse of her “easy and delicate makeup”. Ahead of Vogue's Forces of Fashion, the actress opted for a not-too-intense makeover, living up to the soft glam beauty. She went for neutral tones, labelling her get-ready moment a complete “romantic vibe”. “Fashion truly liberates me, it is so therapeutic,” says the B-town diva, making us nod our heads in agreement. Some blush, winged eyeliner, and dark brown lip shade gave a twist to her fresh-matte base. It was nothing too “extra” per Bhumi as she lived up to the cocktail hours beauty theme.

Winters are for keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized. Well, Kriti Sanon agrees. In her morning skincare video, the actress revealed that dunking one's face into ice is a “very underrated” practice. “It calms down the inflammation, minimises clogged pores, and removes excessive oil from your skin,” she says. She switched to a detoxifying mask to treat little acne and applied green tea and caffeine-infused under-eye patches. It was followed by spraying rose water to get a “damp” base. A Vitamin C-induced glow serum with “Kalari plum extract, and hyaluronic acid which takes care of pigmentation” sealed her skincare prep. Lastly, she suggested applying sunscreen to prevent “sun damage”.

Sonam Kapoor's “Vanity Vignettes” boast luxury. While her “go-to lipstick” shades are “Casablanca by Tom Ford and Dragon Girls by Nars”, the fashionista's “favourite foundation” is a mix of three shades from Chanel “because no one's ever come up with a foundation that matches Indian skin tones”. Dark Peach concealer suited her best, and colossal mascara was her must-have. She professed her love for both cream and powder eyeshadow but when given the option to choose between “bold eyes or bold lips” she went for the first, adding that nothing beats red lips.

Red LED light masks have become the new trend. The latest celebrity to use it was Vanessa Hudgens. In a now-disappeared Instagram story, she was seen putting on the mask, illuminating a bright red outline, and captioning the post, “Isn't this how everyone watches TV?" The umpteen beauty benefits of red light therapy include reduction of fine lines, skin tightening, and improving complexion,  almost like a mini home spa.
