Fashion never sits still; its ever growing and transient nature always has us craving for more. Times change and trends change along with it as well. Even amid the pandemic, it was no different in 2020. With changing needs, 2020 adapted to the current situation and we saw some trends that we're sure are here to stay. Bollywood celebrities too played a huge role in popularising these top trends. The beginning of the year may have been slow in terms of fashion but we are glad it was more than compensated for towards the end of 2020. From clear heels to sequin sarees, here's looking at some of the top trends of the year that we just can't seem to get enough of.

2020's Popular Fashion Trends In Bollywood

1. Sequin Sarees

The sartorial saree maybe graceful and elegant but is also the most versatile piece of clothing in our wardrobe. With changing trends, 2020 saw the introduction of sequin sarees that is the ultimate party pick. Stars like Maliaka Arora, Janhvi Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor among others changed the game to popularise this stylish saree. The perfect cocktail outfit, a sequin saree is a statement in itself and will get you party ready in no time.

2. Clear Heels

You either love them or hate them, but you certainly cannot get enough of it. Clear heels is one of the most popular discoveries that we have so comfortably embraced. Priyanka Chopra was the first celebrity to be seen in it and the rest as they say is history. Clear heels have easily become the new nude heels which have made a place with Indian and Western wear just as seamlessly. From block heels to stiletto variants, clear heels are surely not going anywhere.

3. Kaftans

Kareena Kapoor and her kaftan series became one of the most popular lockdown outfits. Kaftans have always been one of the trendiest resort wear to include in your beach holiday luggage. With travel plans close to zilch, we were more than happy to travel to the living room in gorgeous printed kaftans. However, that wasn't it. Kareena Kapoor announced her pregnancy and showed herself to the world in all her pregnant glory in a kaftan as well. Needless to say kaftans became the new maternity style pick and we're sure it will easily continue into 2021 as well.

4. One-Shoulder Outfits

One-shoulder dresses and tops are common but uncommon on most women. It's stylish and edgy and certainly ready to get you in the party mood. If there is one person who has shown us multiple ways to wear a one-shoulder dress, then that is Mandira Bedi. There may not be enough parties to go for this year, but on any given occasion, a one-shoulder dress is worthy for a spotlight moment. A head turner for sure, a one-shoulder dress or top is easy to style and oh-so-chic!

5. Shararas

Shararas have made a huge comeback in 2020 for being stylish and comfortable all at once. This year has been all about intimate weddings and functions and shararas have been the most popular festive option. Colourful picks or embroidered ones, shararas have been a celebrity favourite too. Kajal Aggarwal wore a printed ensemble for her mehendi function while Sonakshi Sinha picked a pastel one for the festive season.

6. Satin Slip Dresses

2020 has been the year about fluid feminine silhouettes and satin slip dresses have surely been one of the most popular picks. The elegant fall of a satin dress is no more a nightwear essential but also night out ready. Satin dresses in solid colours have been a favourite among celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday and Jacqueline Fernandez and we're sure that lounging in these is just as stylish.

7. Pre-Draped Sarees And Saree Gowns

Sarees are beautiful, we're aware of that. However, learning the art to drape a perfect saree is straight out of a science lesson. Enter saree gowns and pre-draped sarees to the rescue! With intimate weddings as the new norm, simpler drapes are a lot easier to carry off. Pre-draped sarees and saree gowns aren't just easy to slip in and out of, but are also exceptionally stylish and comfortable for smaller gatherings. Athiya Shetty, Diana Penty and Bhumi Pednekar were among the stars to rock one of these during the festive season this year.

8. Athleisure

Athleisure is a popular style and we're sure this is not going anywhere soon. Athleisure combines style and comfort; both of which were essentially the style combination we sought this year. Track suits that were comfortable to lounge in now suddenly got a quick fix with sneakers to pair with it for an appropriate outfit to head out in. Not just the gym but even to your closest restaurant! Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and pretty much all of Bollywood are huge fans and we know why.

9. Masks

Well, how could we even forget? This essential wear is something we can't live without whether we like it or not. So why not make the most of our time and give it a stylish makeover? Embroidered masks became the most stylish item one owned and donned not just on their weddings but even otherwise. Kajal Aggarwal made sure to wear a matching yellow mask to complement her beautiful Manish Malhotra engagement saree. Not just brides but celebrities like Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday and Sonam Kapoor among others were seen in gorgeous masks as well.

Bollywood sure knows how to end 2020 on a super stylish note, eh?
