Ganesh Chaturthi: Your Festive Wardrobe, Sorted. Rekha To Katrina Kaif, Lots Of Celeb Inspiration
Your style guide to festive wear

As Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations began yesterday, many Bollywood stars decked up to welcome Lord Ganesha into their homes and hearts. The beginning of this festive season is the perfect time for us to not only revamp our wardrobes but to also get an idea of the latest festive fashion trends. Checking out the beautiful outfits worn by celebrities at Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations is a great place to start. And after checking out their festive looks, we have quite a head start on what trends to follow this festive season.

Sarees

The evergreen saree is what many women opt for when choosing a festive outfit. Last night for Ganpati celebrations at the Ambani's residence, a lot of actresses wore sarees and absolutely rocked them. Madhuri Dixit was seen in a pretty blue Anita Dongre saree that she paired with a pair of Amrapali earrings. If you want to go for a simple saree, take notes from Shweta Bachchan Nanda. She went for a very simple pink saree with a golden border adding a dash of glamour. But it was Sagarika Ghatge's Raw Mango saree that really took our breath away. Silk sarees are always a win-win for festive affairs. Rekha's green saree and Hema Malini's lavender coloured saree served as the perfect reminder of that fact.

For celebrations at her home, even Shilpa Shetty wore a very simple saree with a standout border.

Colour

Bright colours seem to have worked fantastically for some actresses last night. Katrina went for a bright red Tarun Tahiliani kurta for the Ambani celebration. The floral embroidery on the shoulder was all that was needed to break the monotone. Nita Ambani also wore a bright red lehenga by Sabyasachi with gold motifs all over the skirt. Karisma and Kareena Kapoor both wore shades of yellow. Karisma was in a bright yellow kurta by Manish Malhotra with white thread work all over. Kareena wore a beautiful yellow and pink outfit from Raw Mango - a Varanasi silk sharara set with complete gold brocade work all over.

Bright coloured outfits were also many people's choice

For Arpita Khan Sharma’s Ganapati celebrations, Ananya Panday was spotted in a bright rani pink outfit by Manish Malhotra with silver thread work all over.

Pastels

Pastel shades also seem to work for festive occasions. At Arpita Khan's house for Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, Malaika Arora gave us a lesson in how to carry a pastel outfit. In a light green Simar Dugal suit, Malaika looked resplendent. Athiya Shetty also wore a very pretty shade of green. In her Rahul Mishra suit, Athiya was a reminder that not every festive outfit needs to be blingy. Another actress who wore pastel was Yami Gautam. In a light blue Anita Dongre suit with silver work on the skirt, Yami gave us a lesson in keeping it jazzy yet simple.

Pale

There were also celebrities who wore very pale colours to the festivities and looked very elegant. Case in point? Kiara Advani in her off white Manish Malhotra outfit. What worked for the outfit was the golden work evenly distributed all over the suit. Gauri Khan also wore a Manish Malhotra outfit in a pale peach shade, with white embroidery all over. Her outfit complemented Shah Rukh Khan's white kurta, also from Manish Malhotra. If Kiara's outfit worked with all its gold work, Fatima Sana Shaikh's Falguni Shane Peacock outfit with silver work all over it looked amazing too.
