Lashes with a larger-than-life effect are a beauty enthusiasts' dream and that's exactly what they got on the streets of London recently, courtesy Maybelline. In an attempt to set the internet on fire, Maybelline launched its latest campaign with a social media video promoting its Sky High Mascara in the most interesting way. The video showed a train on the London tube fitted with huge fake 'lashes'. In the backdrop is an ad for the mascara with a big 3D mascara wand sticking out of it. As the carriage pulls into the station, the wand's brush hits the rubber lashes, making it one-of-a-kind promotion. The second half of the video shows a big lash wand emerging from a building and hitting a similar set of rubber lashes over a double-decker bus. Of course, the video went viral and has had some noteworthy reactions.

While the video appears to be capturing a scene or two in real life, Metro.co.uk claims it is a digital marketing stunt, " the twist is that both of these neat little stunts aren't actually real. The Maybelline marketing team is behind the video, but what you're seeing only exists in digital form - so no, you can't go and visit the giant mascara wand building."
Additionally, a representative for the company told Metro.co.uk that they 'wanted to create a disruptive marketing campaign to hero our mascara.'
Many users applauded the marketing team of the brand and commented, "Amazing mind", "The marketing team said, let's level up". Most users were even stunned beyond words and wondered what in the beauty world is this. Others commented, "Is this real?", "This is the coolest thing ever" and many more.
Reel or real, This is not the first time that a brand has pulled off a larger-than-life marketing stunt and tricked its followers into believing that it's true. The creative brains behind campaigns and strategies truly make sure to grab eyeballs with their bold, out-of-the-blue moves. Recently, luxury brand Jacquemus too launched a campaign where bus-sized leather purses in a vibrant colour palette like brown, pink and orange were seen on the Parisian streets in a viral video. The viral video had us all wondering if those were real.

Emirates also went the extra mile recently with their reindeer plane concept in a video they posted, all graphically rendered of course, which went viral. It wasn't until the graphic artist himself revealed he had created the video, that the internet caught wind of the situation.
While the authenticity of the video is still unclear, the creativity has earned its place in both reel and real life and we have no complaints.
