There are many reasons as to why your teeth may have turned yellowish, for example:

4. Genetics

But don't you worry, we have found you some easy, effective and chemical-free home remedies which will not only whiten your yellow teeth but also save you a lot of money and pain of going to a dentist and getting various treatments done. (Though, if your teeth are severely damaged, you must see your dentist.)

Scroll down and have a look at some of these hacks to make your teeth 'Hollywood white'.

1. Try Oil Pulling

Might sound weird to some, but oil pulling can be really effective for not only teeth whitening but also for improving the overall health of your mouth. The practice involves swishing oil around in your mouth for 10-15 minutes (you can start with just 5) and then spitting it out. This will help in reducing bacteria, plaque and gingivitis from your mouth. You can use any oil such as coconut or sesame oil and practice this routine daily for good results.

2. Fruits And Vegetables To The Rescue

As yummy as they are, a lot of fruits and vegetables help in teeth whitening as they are filled with vitamin C agents and chewing some of them also helps in removing that build-up plaque in the corners of your teeth. Here are some the most beneficial ones:

a) Rub lemon, orange or banana peels on your teeth as they have d-limonene which is great for whitening.

b) Use turmeric for its antiseptic whitening agents. Simply dip your toothbrush in the power, and brush your teeth with it.

c) The crunchy carrots and apples are perfect to get rid of your yellow teeth as they simply remove the bacterial build-up, and leave your teeth white and healthy.

d) Strawberry paste? Why not? Use this yummy paste all over your teeth to rub the yellow away.

3. Brush With Baking Soda And Hydrogen Peroxide

It is extremely beneficial to brush your teeth in the correct manner (a circular motion), and even more important to clean them after consuming certain foods and drinks that can lead to yellow teeth. If your teeth are extremely yellow, mix a small amount of baking soda (plaque remover) with double amount of hydrogen peroxide (antibacterial and bleaching agent) and use it as a paste on your teeth 2-3 times a week for natural whitening. Avoid excessive use as it can be detrimental.

4. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an all-rounder, and it comes as no surprise that it is also beneficial for our teeth. Add 2 teaspoons of ACV with 6 ounces of water, swish this mouthwash for approximately 30 seconds, rinse with water and brush. It is known to have certain bleaching properties that will cleanse your teeth very well and give them a sparkling effect. But remember to use it in a small amount and for short periods of time, so as not to damage the enamel.

5. Prevent Tooth Stains Before They Happen

a) Do not underestimate the power of flossing, as regular flossing can reduce bacteria in the mouth by preventing plaque build-up.

b) Limit the consumption of staining foods like - berries, wines, coffee etc.

c) Have calcium-rich foods, such as milk, broccoli, cheese etc, to help protect your teeth from enamel erosion.

d) Last but not the least, brushing your teeth twice a day and regular dental checkups (every 6 months at least) will keep your teeth pearly white.
