We all know the power of a hair accessory, be it a satin bow or a sparkly barrette. Not only is it a go-to choice during the festive season, it's also simplifies a hairstyle on rushed mornings and bad hair days. And what do you know, looks like Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor got the memo too. In the past couple of days, both Bollywood starlets, who also double up as supreme stylistas, made separate appearances with two varied hair accessories that uplifted their hairstyles significantly.

Sonam Kapoor stepped out for the promotions of PadMan in an understated grey Fear Of God sweatshirt, black Balenciaga tights-cum-boots and a seemingly regular bun, from the front at least. With its strong side part and heavy metallic earrings, you'd think it was just another day in Sonam's stylish life.

But, no. Once she turned around, we got a glimpse of her low bun in a metallic hair cage. Hairstylist Hiral Bhatia wrapped Sonam's twisted bun in a spiral hair accessory by Romanar Singhani. 'Business from the front, party from the back' is exactly what Sonam's hairstyle says and one we could really get behind when we're heading for post-work martinis.

While Sonam Kapoor's hair accessory lent an edgy touch, Alia Bhatt, on the other hand, opted for a dainty, lady-like vibe. Over the weekend, she decided to go all out in a mirror work Atelier Zuhra gown which she paired with a messy pulled-back bun. Alia was at a friend's wedding reception.

On the sides, close to the base of the bun were a few silver dragon fly hair pins tucked in casually between the hair strands. Even though Alia's sparkling gown gave an elegant look, it was the delightful dragon fly pins that lend a playful, feminine touch.

Looks like you're never too old for hair pins, especially when you've got a glittering ball gown on.
