Three inspiring women achievers posed together for a very stylish picture at a media-organised conclave held in Mumbai over the weekend. One of them was Hillary Clinton who, as former US Secretary of State, is always worth listening to - here, she was unexpectedly a picture of relaxed but polished chic, wearing a black and silver outfit from Indian designer Payal Khandwala. It was a very stylish departure from the power suits she's most often seen in. Ms Clinton, who delivered the keynote address at the conclave, was joined in the photo by Kapoor sisters Karisma and Kareena, who jointly spoke at a session titled 'The Kapoor Clan: Films, Family, Feminism.' They discussed, among other topics, the belief that Kapoor 'bahus' don't act (they do, said Karisma) and the existence of nepotism in Bollywood (it doesn't, said Kareena).
The sisters, both known for their easy but sophisticated style, picked very different looks but in similar colour palettes. Kareena wore a white pantsuit with party sleeves by Prabal Gurung; Karisma chose a form-fitting dress by Sachin and Babi.
Stylist Tanya Ghavri posted solo pictures of the sisters. Here's Karisma Kapoor in her sleek dress.
And Kareena in her icy white suit.
Plainly, the outfits were high on comfort as well as on style. In true filmy style, the Kapoors broke into a jhatka at their session.
Hillary Clinton appears to have made a personal visit to designer Payal Khandwala's store to source her outfit. Ms Khandwala declared herself 'thrilled' to have 'this phenomenal woman and personal hero' visit.
Hillary Clinton and the Kapoors were among several other prominent women invited to speak at the conclave. Among them were Nita Ambani, poet Rupi Kaur, activist Shehla Rashid and lawyers Indira Jaising and Pinky Virani.
