Nicola Coughlan Uses Wit And Confidence To Silence Body Shaming Troll

Nicola Coughlan, who essays the part of the ingenious though rather overlooked Penelope Featherington and Lady Whistledown in Netflix's Bridgerton, has come for the body-shamers and haters in real life too. This happened when the actress was recently promoting the upcoming release of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 in Dublin, Ireland along with her co-star Luke Newton, who plays her love interest Colin Bridgerton in the period drama.

As can be seen in a video that is going viral on social media platform X, Nicola says, "You know, it is hard because I think women with my body type, women with perfect breasts, we don't get to see ourselves on screen enough." She further adds as people continue to giggle and cheer her on, "And I'm very proud as a member of the perfect breast community. I hope you enjoy seeing them."

Nicola recently became the cover star of Britain's Stylist Magazine's May issue. During the cover interview with the publication the actress told them, "There is so much discourse online about how I look, and I don't think I could ever express how hard that is. It's insulting because I worked hard on this show; a year of fittings and dance lessons and shooting, I barely saw my family, I gave it my absolute all. And then I start doing press and all people want to talk about is my body? It's so f**king disappointing and reductive." This speaks volumes about an industry that puts unrealistic pressures on the constructs of body image and a society that only accepts a certain standard of beauty.

For voicing her unapologetic opinion on the body shaming trolls, we say more power to you, Nicola Coughlan.
