Nagarjuna, 65, Shares His Fitness Secret: "I Stay Active Through The Day"

South star Nagarjuna Akkineni is a dedicated fitness enthusiast. With a youthful appearance and sculpted physique, the 65-year-old almost seems to be aging backwards. The credit goes to Nagarjuna's disciplined lifestyle, regular exercise and balanced diet. Now, the film veteran has spilled the beans on his fitness secrets. From weight training to swimming and following a strict dietary routine, Nagarjuna's insightful tips can be your ultimate guideline for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Nagarjuna revealed his go-to physical activity: strength training and cardio. He said, “I have been doing this for the last 30 to 35 years, so it is more about consistency. I stay active throughout the day; if I do not go to the gym, I go for a walk or swim.” Do you know he has been swimming since he was a teenager?

For Nagarjuna, working out is his priority. He said, “I would rather not work than not exercise. Working out is my first priority as soon as I wake up. I work out definitely for five days a week, if possible, six days. I work out for about an hour in the morning, around 45 minutes to one hour.”

Here's a fitness hack by Nagarjuna: “Be it cardio or strength training, keep your heartbeat above 70 per cent of your maximum rate at all times. Don't rest too much in between your workouts, don't sit down and don't carry phones.” Nagarjuna added, “Just concentrate and make sure your heartbeat is above a certain level and that would keep your metabolism high throughout the day... Just give your body one hour to 45 minutes every day. That should be enough to take care of it.”

Coming to his food habits, Nagarjuna admitted that his diet plan involves finishing dinner “by 7 pm or 7.30 pm maximum”. Reason? “This will set your diet and lifestyle on track,” he revealed. Nagarjuna also follows the 12:12 intermittent fasting method. Nagarjuna's pre-workout morning meal comprises “natural probiotics, like kimchi, sauerkraut and fermented cabbage” paired with warm water and coffee.
