Instead of surgical enhancements, the anti-cosmetic surgery trend leans towards a more natural beauty approach

How The Anti-Cosmetic Surgery Trend Of 2024 Helped Embrace Natural Beauty
Anti-Cosmetic Surgery Trend Is All About Embracing Your Natural Beauty

Like every year, 2024 has been an eventful one for the beauty world too. It was a particularly exciting prospect this year as we saw a reversal of what was the norm. A new aesthetic philosophy took over the beauty world which was the desire for natural results and a preference for keeping it au natural. This development shows how people's expectations and perceptions have changed, with a growing desire to discreetly enhance beauty while maintaining the core of their individuality.

The anti-cosmetic surgery trend encourages a subtler, more organic approach to beauty. Leading this trend is the idea of "Well Aging," which emphasises keeping one's appearance youthful and healthy without making significant changes. Steadily, more people are beginning to eschew treatments and cosmetic surgeries to age in their own way without drastic external enhancements.

As people have become more accepting of their natural selves, skin health has become a primary concern. Individuals are seeking ways that promote healthy, glowing skin rather than relying on surgery. The rise of the anti-cosmetic surgery trend has also given a push to embrace oneself. The trend also emphasises taking a holistic approach to beauty, which is not limited to just skincare but also encompasses lifestyle changes, such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and stress management.

While the anti-cosmetic surgery trend comes as a welcome change in the current beauty scenario, there are several factors responsible for the popularity of this new trend. The increasing awareness of unrealistic beauty standards and the potential harm caused by the beauty industry's emphasis on perfection has led to a backlash against drastic cosmetic procedures. Celebrities like Ariana Grande, Courtney Cox, Black Chyna, Olivia Culpo and many more have gotten their fillers dissolved. Hollywood actress Melanie Griffith revealed in 2017 that she got her fillers dissolved after people started talking about it negatively.

In a 2023 interview, Ariana Grande told Vogue, "I had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 because I felt so- too much. For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me, and now I feel like maybe it's not."

Celebrities in the past have also expressed their views on cosmetic surgery. Salma Hayek told DuJour, "I don't believe in Botox because your face doesn't move, and it's something you have to do for the rest of your life, more and more every time."

Social media platforms have also created a space for individuals to share their natural beauty, flaws and all, and connect with others who share similar values. This has helped to normalize the concept of natural beauty and reduce the notion that going under the knife is necessary to achieve an improved version of one's looks.

In the past year, celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Sarah Paulson, Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet have all come forward and expressed their aversion to cosmetic surgeries.
