Compared to Surya Namaskar and other bending and twisting asanas, this seems incredibly easy, but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's not important to include in your fitness routine. In fact, Vriksasana comes highly recommended because it helps in improving balancing, which in turn calms the mind and increases concentration. The Tree Pose is a standing asana that brings balance both physically and mentally.

Tanya Luthra, a certified yoga trainer and founder of TanYoga says, "A tree is firmly rooted in the ground. The roots hold the barks and the branches beautifully and gracefully. Similarly, in the Tree Pose, the entire body is balanced on one leg, which gives our body grace, poise and calmness to proceed in life. The Tree Pose is also known as Vriksasana, which is a Sanskrit word and it's divided into two parts - 'vriksha' means tree and 'asana' means pose."
