6 Types Of Food That'll Make Your Skin Glow This Festive Season!

It's a common belief that glowing skin is found at the bottom of a tube. So in the quest for it, we end up with so many tubes and bottles - far too many for our tiny dresser shelves. While they can help you to some extent, it is possible to achieve that much coveted glowing skin from within. All you need to do is up your servings of the right kinds of food for your next meal and soon enough, you'll be glowing like Deepika Padukone!

1. Citrus fruits and vegetables

Produce like strawberries, oranges, lemons and sweet limes are replete in Vitamin C and antioxidants. Together, they fight free radicals and increase the production of collagen in the body, which is responsible for keeping the skin supple and firm.

2. Eggs

Gooey, scrambled or topped with hollandaise sauce, we never need more reasons to break open an egg. Along with being delicious, eggs are rich in zinc. Now zinc is a wonder kid of skin food. "Zinc deficiency weakens the cells, which can result in lesions on the skin. The nutrient also controls the oil production and reduces chances of ageing," recommends Dr. Rashmi Shetty in her book, Age Erase. Healthy, supple skin, here we come!

3. Sardines and salmon

Along with containing magnesium and selenium, oily fish like sardines and salmon are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. This encourages the moisture in the skin cells and membranes which, in turn, gets rids of dry skin and repairs any damage.

4. Carrots

Not just good for your eyes, but for your skin too. Why, you ask? It's because carrot is rich in Vitamin A, which slows down the effects on ageing on the skin. Along with that, Vitamin A also prevents pores from getting blocked by balancing the production of skin cells.

5. Spinach and broccoli

Didn't mom always say your greens were good for you? One of those reasons is because they are filled with alpha lipoic acid (ALA) which has powerful anti-ageing properties. Imagine, it decreases signs of sagging skin, wrinkles and blotches from within your body!

6. Avocado

Yet another reason to keep eating that avocado toast! Avocado is a powerhouse of fibre, protein, magnesium and Omega-9 fats. Together, they fight dry skin as well as skin irritation and redness.
